The innovative Bridge & Wolak Duo will present a unique salon performance titled “Classical Stardust” at The Sembrich on Saturday, July 30 at 7:30 PM. This is the final performance given as part of their week-long residency as The Sembrich’s 2022 Flonzaley Resident Artists. Lauded by the Barrie Examiner, the Bridge & Wolak Duo’s performances are, “Fresh, exciting, and fun, dispelling any of the old preconceptions about classical music…”

“It has been a pleasure having the Bridge & Wolak Duo as the Sembrich’s 2022 Flonzaley Resident Artists,” says Artistic Director Richard Wargo. “During their time at The Sembrich, the duo has been able to enjoy and draw inspiration form the pristine Adirondack environment and delight audiences with their wit, passion, and virtuosity. This final performance of their residency promises to be a memorable evening of innovative and inspired arrangements for the duo’s unique instrumentation.”

In contrast to the comic routines and digital equipment employed in the duo’s July 27th performance, the duo will adopt a more serious demeanor and turn to acoustic instruments for this salon performance of music by Bach, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Lutosławski and Morricone. In combination with new theatrical lighting in The Sembrich Studio, the evening promises an intimate and inspiring concert experience.

Hailed as “a wizard of the accordion,” (CBC Music) Canadian performer, teacher, and entrepreneur Michael Bridge is making the concert-accordion and digital-accordion accessible to the next generation. As a soloist with orchestra or string quartet, he performs in concert halls all over the world. He’s also a serious academician and is completing his Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Toronto.

Highly praised on two continents for his glorious tone, precise technical control, and musical imagination, Kornel Wolak continues to expand the clarinet repertoire by commissioning new pieces. Wolak regularly appears in recitals as chamber musician and as soloist with American and European orchestras. A “Fryderyk” nominee, Poland’s highest recording award, he is a regular fixture on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Classical 96.3 FM, Public Radio International, and in the US, National Public Radio.

Tickets are $40 and can be purchased online at TheSembrich.org/festival or by calling (518) 644-2431.
