The Sembrich to Host Lively Outdoor Program Call of the Wild: Horns of The Philadelphia Orchestra
The Sembrich will host the lively lakeside program Call of the Wild: Horns of The Philadelphia Orchestra on Sunday, August 15 at 6:00 PM. Jennifer Montone and Jeffrey Lang, Principal and Associate Principal horn players with The Philadelphia Orchestra, will present an outdoor concert featuring a cornucopia of musical delights. From traditional hunting calls to masterful concerti, the program will celebrate the horn in all its majesty and glory. Repertoire highlights include works of Mozart, Kalliwoda, and Haydn. Additionally, Philadelphia Orchestra violinist and Sembrich Board Member Philip Kates will join the ensemble in a performance of his own composition, Legende, written in the 1980s for legendary horn player Mason Jones.
“We’re taking the French horn from its rightful place in the concert hall and are bringing it out into the open air and back to its forested roots,” says Artistic Director Richard Wargo. “We are delighted to, once again, welcome members of The Philadelphia Orchestra to The Sembrich for another spectacular collaboration.”
