The Sembrich Welcomes Manhattan-based Chelsea Opera to Lakeside Grounds for Under the Mulberry Tree, an Evening of Opera and Jazz
BOLTON LANDING – The Sembrich will welcome the Manhattan-based Chelsea Opera to its lakeside grounds for Under the Mulberry Tree, a relaxing evening of opera and jazz favorites on Wednesday, August 4 at 6:00 PM. The perfect music for an evening by the lake, this outdoor performance by members of the company offers popular pieces from the operatic and jazz repertoires. This is an ideal event for any listener looking for a relaxing and casual concert experience. Program highlights include the Flower Duet from Lakmé and Chuck Mangione’s Land of Make Believe.
“It’s a true pleasure to introduce our audience to Chelsea Opera,” says Sembrich Artistic Director Richard Wargo. “Last summer, in the face of all the challenges posed by COVID-19, this enterprising company managed to bring live music to New York-area audiences in a socially-distanced series called ‘Under the Mulberry Tree.’ We’re delighted to bring a version of that program to our lakeside stage, a perfect way to spend a midsummer evening.”
Founded in 2004, the Chelsea Opera is committed to breaking down barriers within opera and classical music. Each year, they produce fully staged operas with chamber orchestra, a concert series, and other musical experiences. The company has received praise within the industry including favorable reviews by The New York Times and Opera News for its intimate productions. Under the Mulberry Tree is a great introduction to opera and jazz for those new to live performance, and an unforgettable evening for any aficionado.
Tickets are $40 and can be purchased online at TheSembrich.org/festival or by calling their office at (518) 644-2431. The performance will take place under a performance tent on The Sembrich’s lakeside grounds.
