Adirondack Jazz Repertoire Ensemble
The Sembrich Promenade Series
An outstanding eight-piece ensemble from the Adirondack Jazz Orchestra brings the excitement of Dixieland, blues, bebop, funk and contemporary jazz to the Sembrich lakeshore.
The Adirondack Jazz Orchestra was founded in 2003 under the musical direction of trumpeter Matthew Pray. Its sole purpose was to bring together some of the Adirondack’s finest musicians in a big band setting. Members of the group consist of high school music educators, college professors, and college students all who share an interest in performing on a regular basis.
The group plays a wide variety of the Big Band Genre, from standard big band arrangements to original compositions. Each month, the group performs a line-up of charts from Glenn Miller, Buddy Rich, Charles Mingus, Thad Jones, Maynard Ferguson and arrangements written by some of the band’s members.
The Adirondack Jazz Orchestra performs regularly at Olive Ridley’s in Plattsburgh, NY. The full big band performs on the first Wednesday of every month while the chamber-sized Adirondack Jazz Ensemble performs on the third Wednesday.
